Baby's Story"Mom's clock was ticking and Mr. Right was no where to be found so mom's OB suggested she sperm bank it if she REALLY wanted a baby before it was last call. Once over the initial shock, she aimed high and found my donor --a smart, handsome, 6'2" captain of his collegiate rugby team (and we think Longhorn) with impeccable family health history. Enlisting the help of modern medicine (and a great fertility DR), mom rolled the fertility dice 5 times (3 IUIs and 2 IVFs) to get lucky with me! . I started out with a twin but we lost him/her early on. When mom went in for her ultrasound the first time after learning she was pregnant, they warned her, "You may not hear a heartbeat this soon". They turned the volume on and out came the thunderous roar of my heartbeat. I was nicknamed "Thumper" that day. Now at night in my co-sleeper next to mom's bed, when she worries if I'm okay, she just reaches over and puts her hand on my chest to make sure my little heart's still thumpin' in the dark. Few kids have enough photos to fill a baby book before they’re actually born. So much went into getting me here, I’ve got photos from my Petrie dish to the delivery room...and now mom just added photos from my first visit to meet Dr. Naj and his staff. Mom was overcome with tears being there. She had to wait for him in the same room she had her feet in the stirrups day after day, week after week for six months measuring follicles hoping and praying one would result in me. Some days she thought it would never happen but I was just holding out so she'd really appreciate me all the more. I was the cutest egg in the slot machine waiting for my turn to get here and mommy says I was worth the wait."
